Our work: Fortress Storage

Fortress Storage is a state of the art storage facility that not only provides a place to store equipment and supplies for businesses but provides a business center for its business leases. This project was unique in that we provided general construction services as well as construction management services for the owner for the tradesmen that they contract separately from our construction contract.

Our work: Beech Creek Missionary Baptist Church

We completed Beech Creek Missionary Baptist Church in early 2007. This 4,500 sf multipurpose building is a great example space that can be added to an existing campus or for a new church. Several flexible spaces that include large gathering and fellowship space, office-classrooms and a small kitchen.

Is it the right time for your Church to Build?

Well yes and no. Yes in that costs are down. No in that financing can be tough at this time. Your churches ability to have cash or cash equivalent on hand to get things started is one key to know when the right time is. The other important factor is do you have a NEED for more space. Have you done a full inventory of your ministries and is there a significant area that is being under served due to lack of space. So to summarize if you have a little money in hand and you have a NEED then it may be time to build. We can help…contact us.

Who doesn’t have STUFF to store?

At The Building Group we have seen a real increase in Self Storage projects. We can only attribute this to the economy. People are downsizing in their living arrangements and do not want to downsize their STUFF so Self Storage is the answer. It can be a cost effective way to hang onto your STUFF for awhile.

If you are interested in a Self Storage Project we can help! If you need to store your STUFF we can point you in the right direction as well.

What is a Design-Builder?

Well this is a Construction Industry Professional that has experience on both sides of the fence. They typically will have some design and construction background. This could also be a person or firm that has the ability to put together a great team of Design and Construction Professionals that can be a “one stop” shop for your project.

The ability to mesh Design with a Budget is the foundation of Design-Build service. A Design-Build firm should be able to perform this meshing for you on just about any project type. However, this service definitely lends itself to private clients that are on a tight budget. There should be several “checks and balances” along the way with DB service to ensure the end product is what the client is looking for.

This service provides clients with one source of responsibility. Whereas the Traditional delivery method of Design then Bid the project has the owner with two entities that are trying to work for your common good. This may not be the case on all projects that chose to go the Traditional delivery method

Another advantage to DB service is time. The Design can be in process while pricing is being preformed. This speeds the project to construction much quicker. So DB is right for clients that are on a tight budget and timeline.

Why Build in this Economic Climate?

The better question is why not? Cost of construction are down due to the slow construction market. Construction firms have been forced to re-invent themselves as it pertains to how they operate. Overhead budgets are getting lower and the end result is the Cost of Construction is down. Material costs are done significantly from past years. Here is a quote for a Industry economist……

“The price declines make this a great time for public agencies and private owners alike to start construction projects, particularly because this is a limited-time sale and may not last much longer,” said Ken Simonson, chief economist for the Associated General Contractors of America, adding that some materials prices have recently started to rise.
